I originally read this book 30 years ago, and I remember really enjoying it then. I have to say I didn't like it as much this time around, perhaps because I disagree so strongly with the hedonistic lifestyle espoused therein. I think those young men ALL needed jobs!! They had way too much time on their hands, sitting around smoking and philosophizing and indulging themselves. Let them earn their money instead of spending an inheritance.

This book made me want to highlight so many philosophical musings, but this book belongs to my friend and I'm pretty loathe to write in books. Then I wanted to find a pen and copy down sentences for me to think about again in the future. They're not very NICE sentiments, I suppose ...more
