Shelves: sivukujalla-kirjakerho

Kuten jossain fiksusti sanottiin, tästä kirjasta tekee huomattavasti mielenkiintoisemman kirjailija itse sekä olosuhteet ja aika, jolloin se on kirjoitettu. Tiesin jotain jo vähän etukäteen, mutta mun suomennoksen lopussa oli myös kerrottu taustaa Mary Shelleystä ja kirjan synnystä, joten olkoon se virallisesti osa kokonaisarviota.

I was pleasantly surprised by Frankenstein and how modern the story felt, from burnout and a gap year for travelling around in Europe to performance anxiety and the fear of the unknown. The fact that Shelley was between 18-19 years old when she wrote the book is also fascinating and when I read about her own life in the epilogue, it was shocking to see how many similarities it had with Frankenstein's life in the novel.
