Not as suspenseful as I'd hoped, nor was the resolution satisfying. It felt as though there was something that perhaps was edited out, or that I was totally missing about this - not the Tremblay technique that I've come to expect. I nearly DNFd it but it was so short I finished it anyway.

Seriously!?! It's books like these that make me wish I didn't have to finish every book I start. The potential was there. Who wouldn't be intrigued by Tremblay's version of the four men of the apocalypse as they arrive to threaten this family. But, unfortunately, from the beginning, I was simply bored and annoyed. I understand the changing perspectives but, in this case, it made the story redundant. I also faced the predicament, the demands, like Eric and Andrew...as preposterous...and therefore

I had wanted to read this for a while but didn't pick it up until the movie adaptation (which I haven't seen) came out. It was a page turner and I read it quickly, but ultimately not my favorite book. I liked the switching of character perspectives, although sometimes it read a little too much like it was written to be adapted into a movie.
