Ex-military policeman Jack Reacher is a drifter. He's just passing through Margrave, Georgia, and in less than an hour, he's arrested for murder. Not much of a welcome. All Jack knows is that he didn't kill anybody. At least not here. Not lately. But he doesn't stand a chance of convincing anyone. not in Margrave, Georgia. Not a chance in hell.

I have largely been reading literary fiction in 2020 and have neglected my love for mysteries and non-fiction. I am really happy that a reading challenge ...more

Shelves: action, first-in-series, ebook, mystery-thriller

Jack Reacher is a Superman. Big guy, good looking, able to do the most astounding things; not very realistically, but you gotta admire him, he's the hero with the (not really) white hat! This is Child's debut and I have friends who wouldn't miss one of his Jack Reacher stories. Since I always start at the beginning, I started with this one. I downloaded the ebook and really enjoyed the bonus at the beginning where Lee Child describes how he got into writing and how Jack Reacher came to exist. ri ...more

Will definitely read more of the Jack Reacher series. With prequel The Affair, I read this as part of Pop Sugar 2016 reading challenge, for the category 'a book and its prequel'. I really like the mystery genre, was not familiar with Lee Child's books, so was thrilled when I realized he had recently written a prequel, thus giving me a push to start the series.
