What Members Thought

This is one of Christie's best - full of interesting characters, many of whom I'll admit are rather unlikable at first. As the story develops we get to know some of the minor characters better and they are really fun to get to know. (Christie often handles minor characters so well I wish she'd written stories that feature them. That's true here.) The mystery is very puzzling, with several different threads weaving together. And I enjoy Colonel Race, who meets up with Poirot and helps him detect.

The film version with Peter Ustinov as Poirot has always been one of my favourite films, but I'd never read the book. With a new adaption coming out I downloaded the audio version read by Kenneth Branagh. I love his voice and am very fond of his take on the character (ignoring the terrible moustache).
There is so much more to the story, the subplots are fascinating. The only thing I found annoying was the rather obvious replacement of certain words after the recording.
I need to read more Christie ...more

Ah, even better than the Orient Express! Colonel Race is vastly superior to Colonel Hastings and no one will ever convince me otherwise.
