Young, beautiful, wealthy Linnet Ridgeway marries Simon Doyle, the fiance of one of her best friends (Jacqueline de Bellefort). Linnet and Simon go on the trip that Jacqueline and Simon had planned for their honeymoon. Jilted, angry Jacqueline stalks them throughout their travels, showing up wherever they are. Despite the efforts of Linnet and Simon to escape Jacqueline by changing plans and going on a cruise of the Nile, all three end up on the same cruise, along with a wide variety of other ch ...more

Still a 4-5 star read for me, I really enjoyed this reread - listening to David Suchet narrate the Audible added to the fun, bringing back memories of the many times I’ve seen the film.

Even knowing whodunnit doesn’t take away from my enjoyment of Christie’s classic Poirot mysteries; I especially enjoyed the exotic setting of a glamorous Egyptian cruise. Christie does a great job setting the stage in this outing, using the first chapters to bring together an ensemble cast of interesting character

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Agatha Christie's Death on the Nile. It is such a great mystery, very complex! Hercule Poirot and Colonel Race find themselves on board a ship on the Nile, they are in interesting company. Poirot notices the tension between some of his fellow travelers from the very start. And as he takes the time to get to know everyone, to have personal chats with almost every one, his unease only increases. He fears that before the trip is over, murder will have been committed. But who s ...more

Death on the Nile is a classic Poirot mystery. Poirot is on vacation in Egypt, taking a cruise on the Nile - and of course a murder occurs. Happily, Colonel Race is on board too and the two of them take up the investigation.

We've got a lot of people on board the cruise, including a young couple on their honeymoon who are being stalked by the husband's ex-girlfriend, a young society man and his mother, a romance author and her daughter, an elderly kleptomaniac and her travel companions, a couple

The film version with Peter Ustinov as Poirot has always been one of my favourite films, but I'd never read the book. With a new adaption coming out I downloaded the audio version read by Kenneth Branagh. I love his voice and am very fond of his take on the character (ignoring the terrible moustache).

There is so much more to the story, the subplots are fascinating. The only thing I found annoying was the rather obvious replacement of certain words after the recording.

I need to read more Christie

My first Agatha Christie; if memory serves, I read this late Spring of 1994, around the time of my tenth birthday. Dame Agatha opened the world of books to me the way J.K. Rowling would do so for so many kids a few years later. She remains one of my favorite authors.
