My 2018 Review ooh 4.5 stars
So as part of my Hercule Poirot challenge, courtesy of Jessica in "Reading the Detectives", I decided to read this book for the 2nd time in 13 months (why when I have so many books I want to read I don't know, but I did). Was I disappointed, oh no, if anything I'm seriously thinking of upping it to 5 stars. Despite a gap of only 13 months , I got so much from this re-read. In fact I've obviously read so much in that intervening time, that it took me over 3/4 of the bo ...more

Every new development that arises is like a shake you give to a kaleidoscope - the thing changes entirely in aspect.
True of so many of Christie's better works. This particular one has often been voted not only Christie's best, but the best murder mystery ever written. http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-ent...

A great mystery and original with the ending. It reminds me of P.D James Cover her Face. The characters are excellent with all having a motive. The disappearance of the step son, the dodgy butler, Major Blunt, Mrs Ackroyd, Clara, Miss Russell the housekeeper, the personal secretary and a few others. Poirot in his third outing is magnificent even though c his marrows were a bit disappointing.

Haha 😁 my guess was correct. 😎 I'm glad I guessed the twist in the middle. though I couldn't justify why, I do have the happiness of finding the correct murderer well before the end. another excellent novel by Agatha Christie.. completely enjoyed... 😍😍😍

The book is of course very good, as any fan of Agatha Christie's would expect it to be. But what I am really proud of is that I discovered the murderer on page 53 and on page 77, when the murderer is finally revealed, I couldn't help but admire my little grey cell. Hope Mr. Poirot would approve.
