Beautiful young Elinor Carlisle stood serenely in the dock, accused of murder. Only one man still presumed she was innocent until proven guilty - Hercule Poirot.

Just opening up this discussion - please don't post spoilers in this thread.

Susan in NC (susanncreader) | 5048 comments Almost in the middle and loving it - finally, a Poirot I either never read, or simply don’t remember, but it is wonderful- dramatic, plenty of interesting suspects, knotty puzzle with courtroom drama - catnip! I’m reading the Kindle and listening to David Suchet’s lovely narrated audiobook through Scribd.

Jessica-sim | 401 comments October already how time flies! Saturday I went to the library to get this one, they only had a translated version and I had to triple check if it really was the correct one. Translated back to English from the Dutch the title changes to: Quilty in ones one eyes.
I wonder how these two titles will hold up in the end!

Frances (francesab) | 647 comments I'm just starting and looking forward to it (as I always do with Poirots!) I can't recall if I've read this before-it may become clear as we go along but other than the unique ones (egMurder on the Orient Express, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd) I seem to have forgotten most of the solutions so they're just as much fun the second time around!

Susan in NC (susanncreader) | 5048 comments Me, too! I’m always impressed in my reading groups when people remember all the characters and plot twists - not me.

Jessica-sim | 401 comments I'm really enjoying the change in pace with the letters in chapter 6.

Tania | 462 comments I'm also listening to this one, read by David Suchet. I also forget the solutions, but I don't think I've read this one before.

I'm also listening to this read by David Suchet, while I catch up on housework after returning home from holiday! He does read beautifully - not sure which I prefer out of him or Hugh Fraser as a narrator. Intriguing how it starts with the court case and then the story unfolds in flashback.

Yes, I found the plot structure a big part of my enjoyment- plus not having read this one before, that I could recall. I can’t decide which narrator I prefer, either, although I have noticed that sometimes, Suchet reading Poirot’s lines are a little unclear, and I have to rewind and slow down the speed to catch what he is saying. I thought that was kind of odd, since Suchet, in my mind, is Poirot! It was only this audiobook, Suchet’s voice seemed a bit thick, as if he had a cold perhaps. Hope you had a good holiday, Judy!

Tara | 843 comments This book was new to me, and I really enjoyed the plot structure and slow unraveling of the resolution. I also listened to the Suchet version, and I think in general I prefer Hugh Fraser, although once Suchet turns on the Poirot accent, I feel at home.

I've finished this now, and really liked it. I stopped listening to the audio book about a third of the way through, because it was taking far too long for me to find out whodunit, and quickly finished by reading the rest on Kindle (thanks to the library!)
