I finished this book approximately three weeks ago. It has taken me the entirety of that time to gather my incoherent fangirling thoughts and write this whirlwind of a review.
I'm sure everyone has a book that they can't stop seeing around. Wherever you go, wherever you look, it somehow always seems to pop up. For me, that was this book. Why I ignored it for so long I still do not know (Especially with that gorgeous cover. Ask anyone. I'm ...more

A Time to Die by Nadine Brandes
Parvin Brielle Blackwater is seventeen years old and has only one more year to live. When it is found out that Parvin has been illegally sharing a clock with her brother Reid, she is thrown over the wall—her peoples death sentence. Here she finds her calling and grows closer to God. I've seen this book hyped up since I joined Goodreads, and ended up buying the whole series in paperback with some Christmas money. I read this first one in a couple of days.
And sheesh, was the hype worth it.
LIKES:
-This is Christian fiction that is NOT AFRAID to get real. And dark. And I love that. Life in the Christian world is not all fun and games, and it's a little weird to go from this to Mitford....but I still love them both. <3 And the fact that the darkness is not GLORIFIED but is in t ...more

I. MUST. READ. THE. NEXT. BOOK. Seriously though. After having this series highly recommended to me by several friends, I got the first book as a Christmas a present from my grandparents. After the holiday business and starting college business, I finally had a couple days of solid reading and finished it. Finished it with heart beating about five times as rapidly as it should.

This book made me rethink everything I thought I knew about God. About life. About time. About death. About family.
Do yourself a favor and go read this gem. ❤

Nadine Brandes is to be congratulated! Three things stood out to me: (1) the element of faith in God that was not preachy, but the most natural thing ever, (2) the characters that had the struggles and personalities of real humans, but skirted around the YA cliches, and (3) the setting was original. This book cannot be compared to any other dystopian I've read, and that's a good thing. Everything was fresh and creative, while still easy to picture and to believe. Masterfully handled, the themes

How would you live if you knew the day you'd die?
A Time to Die by Nadine Brandes is one of the few books that I consider to have rocked my world. The first time I read it, I was in a book coma for the rest of the day. Powerful, moving, and heartbreaking beyond words.
Parvin Brielle Blackwater is an inspiration. She is an amazing character who endured so much for what she felt was worth fighting for. Nadine Brandes does a stellar job of telling the story through Parvin's eyes-giving the reader the ...more

In a world where people know the date of their death, Parvin seems to have procrastinated in finding her purpose. With only one more year left to live, she's determined to make something of herself. Time rushes by as she seeks to be remembered. But what she doesn't think to fit into her schedule is a death sentence - the Wall. What she discovers on the other side of that Wall brings her closer to God who had never really been a large part of her life, and with it, guidance toward true purpose.

Wow. I didn't really know what to expect when I started this book, which is good because I couldn't possibly have predicted it. It was very good, and now I'm kind of in a daze. I need the next book. Why did they have to die?!

This book is Amazing! The theme of the book is using our time wisely. A Time to Die is a Christian Dystopian book. It is not just 'kinda Christian', it is a book that will encourage you as a Christian in a world where that is not always 'acceptable.' It is a challenging read.
Parvin (the main character) is an ordinary girl who is used by God. Only, she is running out of time. At the beginning of the book, she does not have very strong faith. During the story you get to see her faith grow and shar ...more

This book. . .
Where to begin? I received a free copy of this book as a reviewer for Nadine Brandes' "A Time To Rise" tour. And I loved it.
The Albino tribe, the strange concept of Clocks, Ivanhoe, the Preacher, Parvin, Jude, Solomon, Willow, Elm. I could go on forever.
There are no words that could correctly define this book. Sure, it's inspirational. It's exciting, thrilling, intriguing all meshed together with the desire to pursue Shalom. How things should be. How they ought to be.

As my second time through this book, I think I loved it even more!!!! It's so full of passion and the characters and the plot are just the best!!!!!! *fangirls in a corner* the ending.... Well... Lets not go there. *glares at Nadine Brandes* I felt like I really connected more with Parvin then my first time reading it, and I seriously sobbed when the albinos did the thing to her! (No spoilers!!) seriously, this is my favorite book of all time and you all NEED to read it!!!! I'm SO excited to sta

I JUST LOVED IT

I think that was my second read of this book. It was good. I'm happy. Very happy. Not at all feeling like a dead vole that was rudely snatched away from the precipice of all that is good and wonderful and had it's spine snapped by an unfeeling enemy. *stoic face crumples and a flood of tears drenches the innocent faced paperback responsible for my heart-wrenching pain*

Loved it!
A friend recommended this series awhile ago.... finally got around to reading it...
It was better than she promised!
The premise is very original, the characters are fabulously realistic, and the Christian elements are strong.
No clichés here, be they spiritual, literary or character related.
Can't wait to finish the series! ...more

I absolutely love this book!!!!!!! I can not even express how much. I have read this book many times. Reading this I went on an emotional roller coaster. Nadine did an amazing job showing Parvin's journey physically and spiritually. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

Oh my word were do I start... OK! So this book started out rather slow although it did keep me interested. This book made things seem real to me the way Nadine used words and the way she painted a picture in my mind. In the first couple chapters I was like O.O and then ^O^ and like ya. I love this book when Parvin saw that 'handsome' Enforcer I was like oh my!!!!!! And Jude cute little Jude he so cool!
