Always fascinating, fueled by a wonderfully imaginative thought experiment: what if the instincts of already-surprisingly-adaptable spiders evolved? What would they become? I won’t soon forget the magnificent results Adrian Tchaikovsky dreamed up.

Great read for those patient enough for a doorstopper. Even for those who normally aren't, but, like me, who are particularly interested in some of the ideas, like truly alien aliens and world-building, and no villains. See the discussion above for more of my ideas and some others.

Reread because now it's a fully published trilogy and now I want to read all three. Of course the others are intimidatingly huge too.

I suffer from a strong aversion to insects – any kind of insect: the mere idea of something crawling up an arm or a leg, even if it’s the most harmless creature in the whole universe, makes me shudder in revulsion.
