4.5/5
Rereading this was like coming home to something I didn't know I had missed. I originally read this series a couple years ago and fell in love with the characters, the narrator and the atmosphere of the book. While there is a plot, this more of a character driven story than anything.
I absolutely love these characters and they're all so precious to me, I need to protect them. I love the way the story is told from a sort of omniscient POV and we get to see the thoughts of several characters ...more

“Fate is a very weighty word to throw around before breakfast.”
Fate: the development of events beyond a person's control, regarded as determined by a supernatural power.
Are we fated to meet certain people in our lives? Blue Sargent has spent her entire life in Henrietta and has never had any interest in the ‘Raven Boys’ – boys who attend the prestigious local private school, Aglionby. Then on St. Mark’s Eve, she sees the spirit of one and suddenly their fates are intertwined.

I enjoyed this book. I feel like it was a little slow in the beginning but once it got going it was well paced. I can see why so many people love this series (or at least the first book) and why it is so famous. At the beginning of the book, I didn't really get it. I felt like the characters were described in really weird ways. The author has an interesting way of giving characters descriptors that you wouldn't really expect as a descriptor. I don't have the energy to go back and look up quotes

When The Raven Boys came out I read the synopsis and it honestly didn't interest me. Then I saw all of the good reviews and it was on the Kindle daily deal, so I decided to give it a try. Almost everyone else seems to love this book. Most of my friends have given it 4 or 5 stars, but for me it was an odd read. While I liked it ok, I certainly didn't love it. I do enjoy the way Maggie Stiefvater writes some of her sentences, they can be very imaginative and magical, but this book felt disjointed

I found this book a stunning work with all the complexity that I love about Stiefvater’s writing. The author has a way of taking several characters that seem to have nothing in common, but weaves their stories together, leaving the reader with a sense that they were always meant to be a part of each other’s lives. The realistic quality of the book hooks the reader from the beginning and as the story progresses, the otherworldly is introduced in such a slight way; you can’t help but imagining the

Maggie Steifvater, you sure do know how to weave a tale! I loved The Raven Boys just as much as I loved Shiver!
