What Members Thought

This didn’t really do it for me. I loved the first and was keen to get to this as soon as it was released. It was a disappointment. Every one falls out with each other in various combinations, plenty of (an overwhelming and boring amount) relationship angst mainly but not exclusively between Lou and Reid. We are promised more interest from the travelling troupe and although we find out more about Claude, what could have enlivened the story kind of fell by the wayside a bit. Obviously there will

2nd time reading
Compared to the first book, this one is a bit slow and boring at the beginning. I was happy to see Lou and Reid in love but it was several chapters of nothing happening. Things do pick up in the second half and stuff gets pretty crazy! We get to see werewolves which is awesome and learn about other kinds of witches. Lou also starts to get crazy and kind of pissed me off. Get ahold of yourself lady!

This was the definition of a filler. Nothing really happened until the end of the book where you're left with a cliffhanger to make sure you're going to buy the next one. I'm still surprised at how much I didn't enjoy this book after giving five stars to Serpent & Dove and putting it in my favorites shelf...
This trilogy really should have been a duology because I felt like most of the time, this book was going nowhere. I wanted to be done with this book so badly and now, I'm less excited to rea ...more

Not sure if I want to give this 2.5 stars…I think I do.
Okay, I was actually so excited to continue this series. Book one, I really enjoyed, so I thought it would be clear that I would love this next one. But I was bored. I was disappointed. And overall, I just didn't care. I listened to the audiobooks and for some reason, I didn't love it as much this time around. A lot of Reid's chapters were hard to listen to, especially with the high squeaky voice that was used. Part II picked up slightly, VE ...more

The first book was better.
I was disappointed with where the author took the story after S&D. I was also disappointed with Reid and Lou’s relationship. It felt like I was reading different characters. I would’ve preferred impassioned, outward fighting to the long stretches of silence and little hurts and disappointments between them.
I also was not satisfied with the camp of the Danes Rouge after all that leading up. We barely got any time at their place and it was just some nomad camp in the wood ...more

2 stars. I wasn’t even a fan of book one and even I’m disappointed in this sequel. The writing wasn’t that good and the characters are just so stagnant. Especially Reid. He’s just so boring and useless. Lou is still incredibly annoying. There’s no growth for either of them. The pacing was fine, but this book feels way too long. What a waste. This series had potential but I don’t think this is for me. It’s entirely too childish and the plot isn’t that strong.

The world of cessarine and it's characters grew on me.To see the growth of reid during the book as well as the other bout of events in the book it just chilled me to the bone, had me having goosebumps and I couldn't put it down
