4 stars. Could have been half a star more but the pacing was a little off. And so finally..Anoshe to Grey, White and Red London. A fine tale and well told. I like the way Victoria builds the story slowly in this and all the books. It's frustrating at the time, but I find it always pays off in the second half. Whereas the short chapters in the previous books seemed to make the book read quickly, in this book I found it easier to put the book down between sections. We get more back-story particula

2023 Update:
So I'm not sure why I thought this one didn't wow me, because on this reread, I was ALL IN. To me, this was the strongest of the series with all the characters growing and becoming who they were meant to me. I even didn't hate Lila (I call that growth). While I still agree with my original assessment that Schwab never really rounded out her character and there's still so much we don't know, I'm hoping with the new spin off series that maybe we will uncover Lila's past?

She was a thief, a runaway, a pirate, a magician.
She was fierce, and powerful, and terrifying.
She was still a mystery.
And he loved her. (c)

3 stars. Meh. That’s what I feel for this series as a whole. Just….meh. It’s okay. I just wish I felt emotionally attached to this series and these characters but that’s not the case unfortunately.
The ending is okay, but felt way too cheesy and wrapped up too nicely for my taste. The beginning of this book was pretty decent but then 150 pages or so in it all starts to drag and continues to drag to pretty much the end. THE ENDING MADE ME HAPPY BUT MY HEART WAS ALSO STOMPED ON MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE PROCESS.

A Conjuring of Light Review on K-Books
"Bad ideas are my favourite kind."
A Conjuring of Light was without a doubt the best book of the series. The Shades of Magic series is one that has just completely and utterly blown me away and I couldn't have asked for a more amazing and satisfying ending than I got in A Conjuring of Light. It was a rollarcoaster of emotions and at one point I didn't know how this story could ever end well, but VE Schwab did it superbly.
