What Members Thought

I spent more time than I usually do between finishing this book and writing my review. I am one of those people who knows exactly how I feel about a book the second I finish it and can write an honest review within minutes. This one I had to sleep on.
I was so late to the game, reading this novel that I honestly thing a synopsis would be a waste of time, so let's go ahead and just skip straight to the opinionated portion of this review.

2.5/5
I wasn't sure what to expect going into this novel. I love sci-fi and dystopian novels, but at the same time I'm not the biggest fan of novels that are based in "space" or "alien planets", so I was curious about how I would like this novel.
For about the first third of the novel I found myself... pretty bored to be honest. So much of it seemed to be variations on everything I've read before - and there was also a large portion of it making me go "Hunger Games" :|

I listened to about 3.5 hours of this on audio and didn’t find it interesting yet. I was up to the part where (view spoiler) It felt like this should be an exciting part of the book, but I wasn’t finding it to be. I also didn’t particularly like any of the characters, expecially Darrow. The narration was good, though.

This was a fantastic book. Exciting and fast paced introducing a brand new fantasy kingdom and a revolution to happen.
The main character is Darrow. In a world where Red are basically slaves to the better classes mining the land and Darrow is one of the team working in the mine. But when his wife is hung for a silly crime there is the spark of a rebellion and Darrow gets picked to infiltrate the higher class. After a painful process Darrow gets remade physically into a 'gold' and then gets chose ...more

This has been on my TBR for a while now.
I was surprised by this read. There is a lot going on and the fight scenes sort of get lost as there is so much going on and so many scenes with fighting in.
Chapters 1 - 7
I love the writing style. Its almost written like a song I can't describe it maybe its just me but the authors style is different to what I'm used to.
The first part has me confused. I feel like I've been reading for ages but not getting anywhere in the story and where this is going. Curi ...more
