What Members Thought

Reread: I still LOVE this book. I love the characters, the story, the action, the world building, everything. I enjoyed knowing things ahead to see the foreshadowing and pick up on things I didn’t the first time. I can’t wait to continue this time and dive even farther into this world.
WOW. This book. I loved it so much. I’d heard lots of hype and recommendations but this was so much better than I was even prepared for. And to think I almost gave up 5 chapters in-yes! It was all made up words and ...more

Non-Review of Red Rising on K-Books
Being a huge fan of YA dystopia novels when I heard about this one I was really looking forward to it. When I got this book for review from the publisher I was really excited to get started on it. Unfortunately Red Rising did not live up to my expectations.
I thought Red Rising sounded like a new, unique and original concept for a YA Dystopia, a genre in which there are hundreds of thousands novels circulating at the moment. I was really looking forward to it an ...more

I don't have a lot to say about this one so here are a few of my quick thoughts on it. I rated it a 3 because i liked it but I think the series is just not for me. Or at least not at this time maybe I will try again later. I hope it doesn't discourage anyone from checking the series out though. If you are up for a big world of fantasy, characters, action and concepts it may be the book for you.

Applause for this book! It has been a while since I read a YA book which actually made me want to clap my hands with glee but thank you Pierce Brown for Red Rising!
The plot manages to be familiar to those who read young adult/sci-fi novels while still having a freshness and novelty that many authors do not quite manage to bring to the table. The book was exciting and fast paced with plenty of twists and turns. Many of the characters had great development over the course of the novel (although so ...more
