What Members Thought
I don't see how it would be possible for me to give this less than full stars. Not only did it launch a genre of books, but it really is that well done, at least for me. And the full cast narration on Audible is fantastic (I read along with the narration). It's been years since I first read this and it's every bit as creepy the second time around. I will admit that every time Renfield showed up, I pictured my brother who played him in a stage production a couple of years ago. All I can say is th

I think my love of the 1992 film Bram Stoker's Dracula reduced my enjoyment of the original work. It is very much a Victorian era novel and it is quite dry in places. My favorite parts happened to be Dr Seward's diary and the depiction of the crew members disappearing one by one from the boat as it makes its way from Transylvania to Whitby. The differences between the pop culture iconic vampire and Dracula are very stark and surprising at times but also refreshing in some ways.

Still a Classic
I wanted to re-read this as it had been some time since I last read it. I think it still holds up pretty well. Better than some other vampire books I could name *cough*Twilight*cough*

This classic has been on my “to read” for so long. I love the rich prose from the era. I believe this was published in 1895. It was great to read how our Vampire novels have evolved so much, that we often find the undead glamorous. Dracula was not glamorous at all, and he was scary. My dog jumped and barked as I was reading and the wind was howling and I’m not going to lie, I screamed “shit” and got up and locked the doors.
