What a powerful little book. Sure, it is a coming of age story about a pre-teen girl in the late 1960s, early 1970s, but it feels like a story with lessons and ideas that are important to everyone in any era. I can see why this is on many must read lists.

Simply written – it can be read in one or two sittings. This is a great thing for those looking for a quick and entertaining read in the midst of a busy schedule. No great commitment is required to get through this one. And, you may find more co

Okay, this was a blast from the past and I'm glad I decided to pick it up. I wasn't sure what to rate it originally, because I feel like today's girls are generally more informed than Margaret and her friends. That said, I think this book took on 3 different particular issues, only one of which I remembered (getting your period and growing boobs, lol). As a child I would have loved reading this book. Reading it now, there is some really funny moments and at times took me back to memory lane. Like finding our first pile of naked ladies in the woods or in my dad's stash. This book actually covers a lot of topics in a preteen girl's life, even if a lot of it is totally outlandish.
