This was a tough one to rate. Of the 630 pages, about 200 of them were not great, weird, too much, 1 to 2 stars. A couple of times I wondered why I was still reading and didn't want to go on.

But, the other 430 were very interesting and well written. The premise of the story is fascinating and left me pondering a lot of what ifs?. Rereading this so that I can finish up the series. It's been 1995 since the last time I read this. Need to freshen up on it. It's kind of interesting what I remember versus what I don't remember from this book.

I have some serious love/hate feels for this book...

On the one hand, you can't deny it's well written (although at times it can't be a bit of a snoozefest). On the other hand there's some situations that some more sensitive readers might find disgusting/repulsive/offensive.

I'm not an easily offended person and when I read (especially historical fiction) I try to place myself in that characters time/era. That said, I don't condone abuse, however I do realize women having very few rights is a fact
