I 1st read this book at the age of 11 or 12, under the much more racist title of '10 Little Indians', having taken the ancient, crumbling novel out of my school's library.

At that young age, I liked the book for the simple mystery of it- I wanted to SOLVE the case, dammit!- not caring about writing techniques or things of that nature. Also, I had outgrown 'Sweet Valley High' and 'Goosebumps' and 'The Babysitters Club', switching to the ADULT novels in the limited library that we had at school.

This premise is so awesome, so classic, it just can’t be repeated: Ten people are lured to an island house party under false pretenses. There, they’re each accused of crimes that vary from manslaughter at best and cold-blooded murder at worst. Then they start getting killed one by one.

Is there an unseen killer running loose on the island? Is it one (or more) of the guests? I’m not sure you’re meant to solve this on your own, unlike today’s mysteries. But the most interesting part of the story is ...more

Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None" is arguably her most renowned book. It is a standalone mystery, not featuring Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple, or Tommy and Tuppence, but instead a house of ten strangers that were invited to stay at a house with one another, detectives that played a minor supporting role, a boatman, and someone that invited the ten. I'm not sure how I feel about the ending. It isn't that I mind that it was (view spoiler) as much as I don't like the way that it was delivered. I sort of wanted a bigger ending. Like him jumping out to Blore and Vera at the end and say aha! And I thought the nursery rhyme would have more significance than him just liking it as a child.
