I had so many misconceptions going into this book!
1. It would be difficult to read.
2. It would be mostly boring.
3. I would really not be able to get into it.
4. It was about early British history.
5. I would be glad to finish this book and mark it "Read"!
Was I in for a pleasant surprise! First of all, this beautifully-illustrated edition added so much to my enjoyment and understanding of the story, as the photographs of period artifacts brought the story to life. The story takes place in Scandinav ...more

Finally read this classic. This translation is accessible and compelling. A great classic story.
Excellent epic poem. I haven't read any other translations but Heaney's is fantastic.
