It’s truly amazing that this great classic was not only Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley's first novel, but that she wrote it when she was only 18 years old! Her story was so ingenious for its time, and so well developed and told. I’m sure she shocked the literary world with this tragic tale of the world’s favorite “mad scientist”. This is one of those books it seems one ought to read. It isn't at all like any of the film versions, that have been made over the years. Frankenstein is the surname of the creator of the monster. A lot of the book tells the story of the monster who is free, and learning about the beauty of the earth, people, language, etc. At first he is seeing the beauty of the world, and he wants to be part of society.
