What Members Thought
It was a big mistake to listen to this audiobook after The Golden Compass, which had music and a full voice cast. This felt very lackluster in comparison with one voice actor with odd inflections. Putting aside just the audiobook quality, the book itself didn't live up to the film. It is definitely a children's book though (with lots of animal beheadings, geez) compared to my usual love of YA. I dunno, I wasn't crazy about this, but I can appreciate all the creativity it inspired.

This is my second time reading this book or I should say listening and I didn't remember how different it was from the movie that I've seen several times. As in most fairy tales the original was a little bit more macabre than the movies. with a tiny bit of horror or should I say gore in it. Example someone lost their head. Overall though I enjoyed the book and will probably finish the series.
