Twins had to read this for school and so I thought I'd read it with them. Glad I did. Saw the movie as a kid but the book was so much better. A story about change and what humans are capable of. The theme of overcoming runs rampant in this story, with Mary, the little girl arriving at Misselthwaite Manor skinny, rude, and lonely to the sickly cripple, Colin, the boy of the manor, to the closed in, broken-hearted father and master of the manor, Archibald Craven. A timeless children’s classic. The story of two lonely, neglected children transformed by kindness, friendship, hard work, and the quiet magic of a hidden garden never loses its charm. I listened to the audiobook, and Carrie Hope Fletcher’s narration was spot-on.
