What Members Thought
Twins had to read this for school and so I thought I'd read it with them. Glad I did. Saw the movie as a kid but the book was so much better. A story about change and what humans are capable of. The theme of overcoming runs rampant in this story, with Mary, the little girl arriving at Misselthwaite Manor skinny, rude, and lonely to the sickly cripple, Colin, the boy of the manor, to the closed in, broken-hearted father and master of the manor, Archibald Craven. I absolutely adored this book. Such an uplifting story. From wretched beginnings these children blossom into happy and healthy loving creatures and do so by enjoying simple things like companionship and nature. The scenery is so beautifully described, I loved the mystery of the moor and Misselthwaite Manor. Just enchanting. I loved the way this story ended as well. I will definitely read this book again. So enjoyable!
