Having never read H. G. Wells, I had no idea what to expect of this story. Although I enjoyed it, I found it pretty depressing. I was not expecting Wells to have his Time Traveller land in a future where the advancement of civilization actually led to its demise. But Wells wrote a riveting description of this future world.
