I'm so glad I waited this long to read this classic in this "Minalima" edition, because the illustration, art and production add another layer to the book.

Came up as available on Overdrive, and I snagged it for this weeks audio adventure. I did not expect to like it. I did not love it; also not sorry to have listened to it. I think that I had read Mowgli's tale before, but the other stories about the seals, and the elephants, and Riki Tiki were all pretty good as both stories, and as examples of a certain era of literature. I really like Kipling’s stories. Having only ever seen the Disney film I had no idea that it was only based on a few of the Jungle Book tales... as the Jungle Book is another collection of stories (like Kipling’s Just So Stories) and not all of them are about Mowgli or even the jungle! I think the one that I liked the most was about the white seal searching for a new home away from the human clubbers. It was a sweet tale which had a Greek myth feel to it.
