It was hard to read this book without comparing it to the Hitchcock movie. Let's say the movie was extremely faithful in terms of the plot and the characters were perfectly casted. The book ends up not offering much to a person who has seen the movie. ...more

I enjoyed rereading this after about 25 years and refreshing my memory of the plot. The characters have depth, and so does Manderley. Love books where the setting is its own character.
