I loved this.... a gem of a story. Imagination, monsters, magic but so many lessons in such a lovely way. I listened to this one and it was perfect narration. This would be a great book to read with kids.

I love the children. All of them are amazing, wonderful kids, and I'm filled with love to my adoptive children. I can't wait for sequel, of all the adventures of this unusual family, and how they rescue all the children of the world :-)

What a delightful book. It was a slow build and I wasn’t sure that it would be for me. But the story grew into such a beautiful tale of acceptance and love. 5 stars for sure
This is a very sweet book and is a great read for children, young adults and adults alike. Great messaging about acceptance, love, differences. I would recommend this book to parents of “othered” children. A great story to reiterate that our uniqueness is special; none of our blueprints is faulty.
This was a book that everyone has been raving about it, and I’d agree that it’s a gem. Mr. Baker is a case worker with the DICOMY and is assigned to work with a special “orphanage” out on an island in the cerulean sea. He is nervous upon arrival and meeting the young magical charges, but quickly is enamored with them. The character development is wonderful as well as the relationships. Highly recommend.
A beautifully written, good-feel story. I carry it in my heart this week and remind myself that our differences make us beautiful and all life (normal beings, dark humored, jellyfish-like creatures) should be treasured & valued.
This was really cute. I think a great young adult book.
