I loved this book! The kids melted my heart ❤
Torn between 3.5 - 5 stars. I didn't love the bulk of this book. Not because it wasn't great, just not my style and not my genre. But that ending was so fabulous. I loved it. Made me tear up a bit. A very sweet, fun book about a group of people who are different in every way but find a home together. A book about prejudices and how they sometimes get in the way of friendships. A book about discovering that although we are all very, very different, we can still work together to become better.

This book was cute, but way too twee and predictable for me. The platitudes were constant, and it read like a Disney movie—a buttoned-up corporate drone with no life gets sent on assignment to an island of magical misfits...I think you can figure out the ending.
This was too overhyped for me—but props to the author for his creativity and use of music and devilish humor.

What a delightful story! The character are well-described and quirky and sympathetic, the settings are rich in detail and feel like a world within themselves, the various conflict arcs the characters go through are engaging and interesting. His opportunity to go on location for work and really show his abilities and skills was such a wonderful call

This book is a full on warm hug. It is the best found family, found voices, self discovery and authenticity celebration book out there. It's quirky and full of adventure with the most wonderfully developed characters. I adored every part of the story and I have a sweet thought in my mind that this house and these people exist a short fairy ride off shore somewhere out there and that's exactly what our world needs.
