What Members Thought
Magical children, including a girl gnome named Talia, and a 6 year-old boy named Lucy who is the Antichrist. Amazing. Truth is, I have a son affectionately known as Lucy, who at age 6 was devilish indeed. This book was so delightful and unexpected. I’ve seen buzz about it, but honestly never looked past the cover. I should have looked closer to see the blurb on the cover saying “it is like being wrapped up in a big gay blanket” - it is kind of a perfect way to describe this lovely book.

This book was a balm for my soul as I come to the end of a very trying quarantine year. I listened to it on audio while planting dahlias all day. Listening to it, while doing one of my favorite things offered me an escape to a world filled with hope. It touched my heart. More specifically the characters touched my heart. The book follow Linus Baker, a follow the rules, lonely, middle age government worker in a world where some people have magical abilities. His job is to report on an orphanage f
