I'm quite possibly about four years late to the Hamilton fervor. I had only heard a few songs (My Shot, Nonstop, and You'll Be Back) before watching (and loving) the movie version on Disney+ on July 4, 2020. This is the Hamilton fan book. It has lush pictures of the show as well as candid pictures of the actors. There are the requisite biographies and there is the tale of how Hamilton came into existence. The book also has all the lyrics to all the songs printed out.

This audiobook made a long drive bearable. I was completely engaged by the story of the creation of this groundbreaking musical and I loved hearing all the inside stories of the writing, practicing, staging, scoring, choreographing, and designing for this piece. I only know theater as a consumer--I've never been in a play beyond a summer camp production, I've never done any costume or lighting or sound design. I listened to the sound track as I read. What a wonderful way to experience this play, which I have never seen. Lin-Manuel Miranda is genius...also surrounds himself with (or attracts) brilliant creative people. I've read maybe one or two scripts...Should begin reading this more...although the experience of reading and listening to this gem may be a rare experience.
