for the record, goodreads says two stars is "it was okay".

the cover of this book is beautiful. the first hundred pages of the book make it seem like there might be something interesting going on.

that said, mara's mother is a therapist. a psychologist. and the two options are a) commit her to an asylum or b) move to florida, give her drugs, and pretend nothing happened?

color my suspension of disbelief ruined right there.

many people have discussed the problems with mara and noah, and i agree.

The ending was disappointing. I was somewhat intrigued by the book, and I read the whole thing (which is rare with young adult books these days), so it gets three stars for now.

I will pick up the sequel to see if Hodkin fleshes out the characters a bit more.
