My coworkers have all been reading and raving about Watchmen lately. This graphic novel tells the story of several generations of masked heroes. I have read several graphic novels in the past but never a “super hero” one. I am not much of a comic book fan either, so Watchmen was new territory for me in many ways.

I also read Watchmen because one of my book clubs selected Junot Diaz’s The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. I’ve been told that the lead character in that book is a fan of Watchmen. I ...more

i love rorschach.

this took me a long time to read. i was savoring it at the beginning, but then i needed to take a break. i knew the ending, but i didn't want to get there, almost. i was a bit wary of seeing what i knew was coming.

my poor city.

i can't decide whether or not i think the ending is hopeful, because i, like veidt, love history. only he's all about the egyptians, and i'm a little more modern, and studying the age of nationalism and nation-building post-WWI and WWII . . . i don't kn ...more
