The book started out kind of slow. It took me a little while to get into it. But it slowly got better and by the time I got to the last 40% or so, I couldn't put it down. I'm anxious to see where the story goes from here. I would give it 3.5 stars.

I'm between a 3 & 4 on this book. I did enjoy it, but it also annoyed me. I'm giving it a 4 (vs a 3, which I think the content deserved) because I did look forward to picking up to read it. It was quick - which I equate to wanting to read it.
The main thing I didn't like about this book...
I don't like when a book has no ending. This doesn't. You're forced to read another book to find out what happens. I find that a shitty way to write. Each story of a series should be tight within its own cover. ...more

This book is like The Bachelor meets The Princess Diaries...only set in a future version of The U.S which has been invaded and then saved only to end in a world ruled by kings once again, and the people are stuck in a caste system. Much like the girl in The Princess diaries, young girls are plucked from their com

...more

I actually really enjoyed this.
Of course it's all drama and love triangles (what good is a YA without it) but I did enjoy it and will be reading the second book shortly. :) ...more

Hunger Games (castes and a love triangle and a totally improbable chance becomes reality) meets The Bachelor (thirty women dating one very eligible young man: a prince). I knew this was going to be cheesy but wow, this just felt extra shallow. The writing is not particularly good, the characters flat.
But will I read the second one? Uh, maybe (the ending doesn’t wrap anything up at all).
Clean readers: every scene with Aspen is kind of steamy, though there’s no sex. Some d-words but no other profa ...more
