This was a reallly great read -- starting with the arranged marriage of Ashima and Ashoke in Calcutta, India to their start in the suburbs of Boston, MA... and waiting on a latter from Ashima's grandmother that would name their first born child. The letter never arrives and the grandmother has had a stroke so the boy goes by his pet name from his parents, Gogol (named for the author Nikolai Gogol). This is a great story, showcasing the different cultural traditions as well as different relations ...more
