I'm ashamed to admit that I hadn't heard of Jhumpa Lahiri before I went through the prompts for the 2019 Reading Women Challenge. I know I will be making up for that lack of recognition.
Interpreter of Maladies is Lahiri's debut. It is a book of short stories; each one a perfectly polished little gem of storytelling. When I borrowed it from the library, I thought that, since the whole book is only 198 pages, I'd tear through it in an afternoon.

I remembered this one being so sad, especially the story about the couple whose marriage was deteriorating after their child was stillborn.
