Not a fan of her poetry, but I've read this at least 5 times. Such a great story about adolescence and that descent into depression. One of those books I'd recommend everyone read at least once. ...more

Plath writes beautifully, and her insights into the mind of a young woman are alarmingly on-target, at least for me. Knowing Plath's biography made me a bit concerned that I was able to identify with Esther so closely, especially considering that it's fairly apparent that Plath based the book on her life experiences.

I enjoyed this edition because it included biographical notes, as well as the history of the novel's publication, and not having read anything by Plath before, I found it all to be h
