What Members Thought

Agatha Christie set the standard for mystery novels with her first one. Eccentric genius detective! Isolated country house! Watson-like friend! Locked room! Red herrings galore! Gathering (most) of the potential suspects in one room to reveal what really happened! Surprise twist ending! A great mystery, where all of the clues come together in a believable (well, for what it is anyway) solution. This was my first foray into the world of Agatha Christie, and I was surely not disappointed! The twists and turns in the storyline kept the mystery interesting. Just as soon as I thought I had it all figured out, which happened quite often, the character of Poirot would soon prove me work. Quite an unexpected ending (but isn't that exactly what you want in a good mystery?) Glad I read it all in one day, though, or I would surely have been lost! Can't wait to pick up some more Christie!

A fun novel. I really like Agatha Christie.

On the second read though I found a lot more clues that Poirot pointed out. But, of course, it’s hard to gather all of the details.
