I don't think I have much to add to what's already been said about this wonderful book. Morgenstern creates a world you can get lost in within our own world (or at least, our great-grandparents' world). If you have any tolerance for fantasy at all, you should read this book. Very highly recommended.

I don't know what happened. I really loved Jim Dale as the narrator of the Harry Potter books and I've heard wonderful things about this book. I just couldn't get into Dale's narration. Perhaps I will try to read a hard copy of it and see if my opinions change.

I loved this - it had me totally captured and thinking about it from the first page. This was runner up for a book club choice and I wish it had been the book we picked.
For the first half I thought it was okay. The short snippets centered around different characters at different times were interesting, but not compelling enough to make me want to move on to the next chapter, so it took me awhile to get through it. Around the halfway point, as the characters were better developed and the story move magical, I was totally drawn in. From then on I hated to put it down. Loved loved the first half of this book. The second half was completely disappointing and slow.
Magical.
(book club) 3.5 stars. Beautiful images, magical pictures. I wish I could visit this circus, but the ending left me wanting just a little bit more.
I really enjoyed this one. Whimsical and a great story that draws you in. The ending is a little muddled, but overall I recommend it.
here for the illusions, not for the love story. 3.5 stars rounded up.
