Knowing how long ago this mystery was written, I did not expect it to be as engaging as it was. I read it in about 25 hours, staying up far too late, and feeling very jumpy when I had to take the dog outside in the dark one last time to go to the bathroom. While I believe that I read some of Christie's work when I was in high school, I don't remember much about it, and certainly didn't recognize any of this plot. I went through a big Agatha Christie phase in middle school, so it was fun to revisit this classic. A quick read that I finished in a day. A classic whodunnit.
4.5 stars
I listened to this one, and I was super into it. The narration is pretty good, but I think it would have been SO MUCH BETTER as a Full Cast Audio. So that 1/2 a star knockdown is for the narrator.
Tight plotting and totally intense. While I didn't guess the murderer, I also wasn't surprised (though I was surprised for the reasoning behind it--geez, sociopath much?). The big reveal here is as much HOW as much as who and why. Good stuff. ...more

This was a re-read for me (last read in 1999) but an engaging book to start 2014 for sure!
