As a fervent (FERVENT) Buffy fan, I was prepared to not like this book, and, well, it didn't disappoint me in that respect. This was really jumbled, as if the author had written a series of short stories years ago, and then spent about an hour tying them all together. And there was no sex! Not my cup of tea. I picked this book up from the library because I was going on the Vampire Walking Tour of the Blood District a/k/a Laclede's Landing in St. Louis. I had never heard of Ms. Hamilton, but hey, she's a local author so I gave it a shot.

I have been meaning to read this for ages. I know that the series is supposed to go downhill... but this was lovely. Like Anne Rice before she jumped the shark. Only... more real. More silly, and not better written, but more real.

Definitely worth a look, if you still haven't tried her.

It took awhile to figure out the way things were but once I did I actually got quite into it. Parts were a little gruesome for my taste but I can see how people would get hooked. ...more
