The split perspective very clearly shows the problem with this series - it was impossible to tell the different between Tris and Four's chapters. These characters have a lot in common, but different perspectives and that wasn't shown at all. I gave up on trying to tell who the narrator was, it didn't matter anyway. The pace of this book slows down a bit and the author turns more introspective. I didn't find this technique and story line as entertaining and compelling as the first book in the series. I guess it demonstrates the author's maturing in her relationships, but the overall story was harder for me to imagine.

Is it The Curse of the Third Book in a Trilogy?
In my mind, there is something worse than a bad book: a boring one. And boy is Allegiant boring. Lackluster plot, a mishmash of formerly exciting characters and an ending that made wonder if Ms. Roth didn't hate this character all along. At least with my hatred of Mockingjay, I still cared about the characters and had enough vitriol left to throw the book across the room.
