So.....I finally read The Road. Three stars technically means 'I liked it,' but, I didn't like it!

It's possible that it's more moving in print. The repetitiveness, stark dialogue, and lack of plot just didn't work for me in audio.

Of course, I was aching for the backstory throughout the entire book. What exactly was it that caused the apocalypse?

A lot of the details didn't seem plausible to me. I've only read a few dystopian novels, but I always enjoy the world building, the author's speculati

A very dark novel. I am not sure why the book won pulitzer prize. The prose that McCarthy uses was very prolific and read like a poem in some areas. Otherwise, just a dark novel with a so so relationship between father and son.

I'm not sure I really understood the premise of this book. I didn't feel attached to the characters, or even the storyline, but I did like the theme of loyalty and love conquering all. ...more

The atmosphere in this book is haunting and bleak. The story is just so depressing. McCarthy’s writing is really straight forward yet I was captivated and could not stop reading. I am left with So many questions that will go unanswered but sometimes that is ok.

Pulitzer winners are hit and miss for me but this one was good for me. I have put off reading for years in spite of my husband urging me to read. I should not have waited so long.
