How did I get so lucky to read two 5 star books back to back? Unknown to me at the time, I chose to read two Pulitzer's back to back.
I do not normally read dystopian fiction but wanted to listen to a short book before I started Justin Go's The Steady Running of the Hour which was not published until Tuesday. The shortest book in my Audible library was Cormac McCarthy's The Road which won the Pulitzer in 2005.

My daughter chose this as her contemporary novel selection for an AP Lit class, and I'd always meant to read it, so I decided to join her. Wow.
I've read two of the three Border Trilogy novels, and I am awed by McCarthy's writing. This one was as affecting as the others.
