First Read May 2015 / Gave 4 stars. Loved loved loved, didn't like the simon and baz emphasis though.

THIS BOOK. Rainbow's writing is so beautiful and well spoken that you can't help but immerse yourself into the characters and the surroundings. I felt like she delivered in setting the scene for every aspect from the dorm rooms, to her dads house, to the hospital etc. I felt like I could almost identically envision it in my mind, as Rainbow in First Read May 2015 / Gave 4 stars. Loved loved loved, didn't like the simon and baz emphasis though.

THIS BOOK. Rainbow's writing is so beautiful and well spoken that you can't help but immerse yourself into the characters and the surroundings. I felt like she delivered in setting the scene for every aspect from the dorm rooms, to her dads house, to the hospital etc. I felt like I could almost identically envision it in my mind, as Rainbow intended. There were so many different facets to the book, and many different characters, and yet I felt like I could picture every single one of them so clearly. (I still can't picture Levi as blonde though. For some reason I picture a brunette guy...Weeeeird).

I loved seeing the concepts of family issues as well as alcoholism, abandonment and anxiety all be present in the book, with ample development on each and everyone to the point where it was so relatable even if it didn't happen to me.

The first time I read Fangirl I felt that Cather seemed childish almost in terms of Simon and Baz. Second time around, I still really didn't care for all the fan-fic snippets. It is not that I don't hate it, cause I loooooove the idea behind keeping something you love, and don't want to end, alive. I just cringed when Cather got so upset and had a few tantrums because either her professor told her she needed to not use it in her essay as it was technically plagiarism, or when she needed to do her college work over writing for the fan-fic. I understand Carry On is a huge part of her life, but it was almost as if she let that be her WHOLE life and consumed her too much.

That small small negative aside, I love this book. I love Cather's wit, I love Reagan's badass vibes yet sweet soul, and most of all I L O V E Levi. Legit, how can someone be so perfect and yet so relatable at the same time. He doesn't seem real, and yet, he is real in my mind. Rainbow did a bangin' job on creating such an amazing unique male character/

I do not like the fact that the name of the characters in the quasi Harry Potter universe is Simon and BAZ. Baz! I endured all the parts of Simon Snow exercpts (canon and fanfic). If it were a real book I wouldn't bother to read it.

It was well written though, I sat for a couple hours reading it because I wanted to know what would happen next between the characters.

I like the friendship between Reagan and Cath, how they still like each other despite the fact they didn't like each other. ...more
