I attempted to read this book several different times. I think I got as far as fifty pages in and then started skimming. I won't rate the book since I didn't really complete it.

I just couldn't get into it....I finally gave it up and gave it away after having it on my shelf for several years.

I am just not into dystopian anymore. I read so much of it that I'm kind of turned off by it now. I just find it too depressing.

That doesn't mean this book isn't a good book....I couldn't really say one way

I really enjoyed this book. The prince if Illea is coming of age and it's time to find him a bride. In order to do this there is a lottery held all the girls of eligible age fill out a form and if they are selected they are to live at the palace while the prince finds his bride only 35 girls will be selected. America is one of the selected and the main character but there is a twist with her she really doesn't want to be there. Yes being one of the 35 helps her family out but her heart belongs t ...more

This book was exactly the kind of book I was in the mood for. It's light, fluffy, and fun. It totally reminded me of The Hunger Games only in the choosing process and the differences between all the castes. It was kind of funny. I've had people say this book would remind me of The Hunger Games, and I wondered how Kiera Cass was going to combine The Bachelor and "Killing" the competition.
So I liked it. I may not have if I was in the mood for something with more depth. But even then, I really lik

*May contain spoilers. Read with care*

I read several reviews before reading this book and a lot of them said this series was Hunger Games meets The Bachelor. After reading this first book, I can see why that was said, but I don't agree wholly with the Hunger Game part of the comparison.

Yes, it is dystopian and there is a caste system, but the level of desperation in the Hunger Games is not felt here for America's family. Plus the highest level her, the monarchs, aren't greedy like that of Snow a

This is another of those books I didn't expect to like. The Bachelor meets dystopia and while the competition isn't as fierce and bloodthirsty as the Hunger Games, there's still enough desperation on the part of our heroine to play her part and fight to win a contest she has absolutely no interest in.

The goal is simple - the crown prince needs a bride, so representatives are taken from all over the Kingdom (the former USA) to be paraded before him. Then in a very "Bachelor" move, he gets a chanc

I really liked this book. I was pleasantly surprised by the main characters. I was a little hesitant when I first started this book because the first chapter made me want to stop reading but I'm really glad I didn't. The only problem I had was how it ended so suddenly in my opinion. That was another reason why I waited until almost all of the series was done before reading it. ...more
