This is only my second Cassandra Clare novel (the first was “City of Bones,” #1 of her “Mortal Instruments” series) and I am a lifelong fan already! “City of Bones” is great; “Clockwork Angel” is stunning! Victorian, historical, geographical, Steampunk, Supernatural/paranormal, clockwork, automatons, demons, Fae, Vampires, Shifters, Demon Hunters-everything a reader of Paranormal could want (me, anyway) is contained here, and I cannot wait to continue the series! Ms. Clare’s books are definitely

The Clockwork Angel is the first book in the Infernal Devices series, the story is set in the Victorian era, London. The heroin in this book is a 16 year old girl Tessa.

She was in her way from New York to London to meet her brother Nate Gray after her aunt death, and there where she was told that she is not a normal human, and that she is magical by two sisters who called them self the ...more

To be honest, I perfer this book series a little more than its complimenting one- the Mortal Instruments, but only because I am big fan of historical fiction. At first I was hestitant about how well the author would be at the historical fiction aspect, but any doubts I had were stupid. She's a great, well- rounded author and does amble research on this era to ensure it meets the historical truth needed. I'm truly impressed by her and love all her books.

Could not get through the first part of this book. Lord knows I tried. It was so slow and not at all intriguing. Characters had no color at all. May try again to get through the book out of curiosity as to where the story was going. I doubt I'll waste my time though. Not at all like the Mortal Instruments series so if you picked this up because of that don't waste your reading hours.

I really liked Cassandra Clare's City of Bones series (I enjoyed the movie too). This book felt so similar to the original series (as far as character building and their issues) that it wasn't quite as unique as I would have hoped. I did very much enjoy the lead, Tessa, and of course Mr. Bane is always an interesting and fun character. The world building is awesome!!

I didn't really get into this story until around the 200 page mark. I kept comparing it to The City of Bones, which grabbed me from the start. Saying that, It's worth a read. I found myself intrigued especially by Will and his dark inner turmoil. An interesting look at a time before Jace and Clary .
