So partly cause i just got around to buying the 2nd, partly cause i dont really remember lol i chose to do a reread. Old review still standing

okay I adored The Mortal Instruments, so when I heard of this series, I couldn't wait.
Now, though I will continue cause I gotta know more about Tessa, and what will happen, I didn't enjoy this one near as much.
I read other reviews and I have to agree the characters are almost identical.
Granted I liked Clary, Tessa was okay but she was very judgmen ...more

Could not get through the first part of this book. Lord knows I tried. It was so slow and not at all intriguing. Characters had no color at all. May try again to get through the book out of curiosity as to where the story was going. I doubt I'll waste my time though. Not at all like the Mortal Instruments series so if you picked this up because of that don't waste your reading hours.

I really enjoyed this book. It took me a bit to get hooked by it compared to the original Mortal Instruments trilogy. I ended up liking it a lot though. I enjoyed there being some familiar characters and families in this series. I'm excited to continue reading the rest of this trilogy and find out more about Tessa (and hopefully her family).
