What Members Thought

This was a really solid read. I enjoyed the narrative voice. It was very similar to the voice I've seen in other Latin/Central American authors like Marquez and Allende: an omniscient folkloric narrator which makes it easy to buy into the instances of magical realism. I'm not a huge fan of magical realism, but I thought this book pulled it off fantastically.

Loved it just as much the second time around. While this one is light and fun, it will still give book clubs a great deal to talk about regarding relationships between men and women and between mothers, daughters, and sisters. My only criticism of the book this time around is that Pedro's character was woefully undeveloped, and what we do know about him is that he was kind of a tool. What's to love?
