What Members Thought

I think I may actually like this one more than Fangirl. I'm also leery to read a second book by an artist when I liked the first one so much.
Reasons I loved it so much:
1. It's set in 1986, who doesn't love the 80s?
2. It's chock full 'geek' references: XMen, Watchmen, there is even a Doctor Who comment.
3. Eleanor and Park are just so damn cute together! ...more

Wow I loved this so much. Eleanor was exactly like me, more like me than any other main character of a book I've read.

Author Rainbow Rowell seems to know her audience. If you are one of those readers who rarely picks up a YA novels but you've heard a lot about this one so you're thinking about reading it, don't be so surprised when you realise it's about being angsty teenagers and the thrill and disaster of new experiences. As a YA novel, yes this story has the ability to cross over and snag lots of adult readers. There's been a lot of discussion in reviews about the back and forth format of the narration. Agai

This is a very sweet book and clearly a weird non-horrenduous take on Romeo and Juliet. Apart from one scene that I can't see ANY teenager saying, not even one from Dawson's Creek it rang true. But I can forgive it as again - Romeo and Juliet.

This book was pretty good. I think the author did an excellent job of taking you back to the first time you fell in love. She describes all the awkward moments and butterflies in the stomach that we all probably went through but have now forgotten. She also touches on what it feels like to be an outsider in school and to be picked on. I think she captures those moments quite well.
